Common statistical infrastructure (CSI) comprises the tools and systems supporting the various stages of the statistical production process without being an integral part of one or the other of these stages. This Chapter deals with the statistical infrastructure required to support the production of official statistics, including the development of internal registers, methods, tools, systems and standards. It discusses the benefit of CSI among producers of the same country and between producers of official statistics from different countries. The Chapter explains how CSI allows increased interoperability by sharing processes and components to leveraging cooperation opportunities and investments as well as designs, knowledge and practices.
