Chapter 14 - Data, Information and Knowledge Management

   

 

The core mission of national statistical offices (NSOs) is to compile timely statistical information that is fit for purpose and accessible to a broad range of users. This requires the producers of official statistics appropriate and well-functioning data, information and knowledge management systems. This Chapter addresses these challenges and covers the ownership and custody of records, documents, data, information, and other intellectual assets held by the NSOs. It also discusses sound policies, guidelines, and standards for the collection, storage, maintenance, retrieval, dissemination, and, eventually, data erasure.
